Our veterinarians understand that pet owners have concerns about procedures involving sedation and anesthesia. Our staff will always discuss why the use of sedatives or general anesthesia is recommended for your pet’s procedure. While there is always a risk when using anesthesia in all animals including humans, there are multiple ways that we can make anesthesia safer for our pets when we need to perform certain procedures.
It is the policy of Westmonte Animal Clinic veterinarians to perform pre-anesthetic blood testing to screen for underlying medical problems in pets of all ages. Just as in humans, anesthesia has it risks.
